About the Position: Serves as Messaging / Social Media Specialist, working under the general direction of the Division Chief, who provides general guidance on task, purpose, intent, and priorities to complete tasks that support the day-to-day operations. The incumbent is the command's primary subject matter expert (SME) on the organization's messaging to the field utilizing various modes of communications.
Duties
Serves as Messaging / Social Media Specialist for the Operations Support Division, working under the general direction of the Division Chief.
Works collaboratively across the entire organization, other Public Affairs Office, Department of Defense and other Federal agencies to execute a modern social media program.
Oversees/performs work involved in communicating information through visual means to include design, production, display, and dissemination of websites, social media, pamphlets, and brochures.
Prepares and publishes Operation Orders (OPORDs), Fragmentary Orders (FRAGOs), Memorandum of Instruction (MOIs), and Letter of Instruction (LOIs) based on The Adjutant General's guidance.
Research new and innovative tools, programs, systems, software services and social media industry trends to maintain the division’s currency and relevance with social media efforts and strategies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station (10%).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: Establishing and ensuring adherence to schedules and priorities; interpreting technical policy, procedures, and regulations; and providing technical and administrative advice and assistance as required to resolve management problems and maintain continuity of work.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using specialize experience.
OR
Education: Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration and/or Human Resources Management (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
