This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position located at US Army Cadet Command, Deputy Chief of Staff, RMID (Recruiting, Marketing, Incentives Directorate), Operations Analysis Division, Fort Knox, KY

Duties

Perform analysis for which precedents are minimal in support of decision making by high level officials on significant issues. Develop and coordinate study plans across the Command and establish priorities. Apply extensive knowledge of issues, problems and subject studied to resolve difficult problems to assure results reflect real world environments. Select equations or algorithms relevant to real world environments. Advise on selection of computer applications for use in modeling. Serve as team leader responsible for complete projects that are important segments of much larger overall efforts.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Employment is subject to a one-year probationary period.
  • Due to the nature of the position, employee is required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as; experience performing research and analytical studies using a variety of established mathematical, statistical, and other operational research techniques working directly to correct deficiencies or improve the performance of the organization's systems, processes, or operations.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet both the qualification and experience requirement for the position.

Basic Requirements: degree in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.. (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE ATTACHED)
