About the Position: This position is with the Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Directorate of Military Programs, Environmental Division. It is located at 441 G St NW in Washington, D.C. and will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Serve as Executive Staff Specialist to the Division and Branch Chiefs, exercising responsibility over a wide variety of administrative functions. Evaluate all special projects and action papers to ensure adherence to items such as: proper procedural requirements, coordination needs, and regulatory guidance. Perform duties of Division timekeeper by understanding pay plans and associated rules and restrictions, coding/charging time and governing regulations. Utilize computer database management systems and Microsoft Office programs to prepare extracts, track suspenses, and prepare reports on specific actions. Oversee scheduled meeting items, such as: read-aheads, conflicting times, reserving rooms, arranging for visitors. Anticipate the Division Chief's needs and plan appropriate responses that provide exceptional service and support. Performs periodic audits to ensure compliance with telework and timekeeping policies.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) performing administrative functions including drafting documents, managing correspondence, maintaining calendars, and coordinating meetings and conferences; 2) participating in examining administrative work processes to improve efficiency and/or improve policies; 3) servicing internal and external customers to provide guidance and exchange information; 4) producing travel-related work products such as vouchers, agendas, and orders; and 5) operating automated systems to process administrative and staff action tasks and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Adminsitration, Public Adminsitration or Management Information Systems. (MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (MUST submit a copy of your transcript with your application package).
