This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Facilities Operations Services Division (FOSD), Facility Operations Group, and Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant (PHRP). The purpose of this position is to serve as an engineering consultant and technical expert on utility infrastructure, systems and equipment.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Perform support to related complex research, development, project engineering/program management evaluation.
Exercise technical responsibility for planning and conducting various projects of broad scope and unconventional requiring the ability to interpret, select and extend pertinent precedents or guides.
Analyze data and study characteristics of materials relating to engineering systems, processes and structures
Exercise creativity and critical judgment in developing new methods and recommending solutions to complex problems
Requirements

- Total salary varies depending on location of position

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must possess or obtain OSHA-10 certification within one year, and NICET Level 2 Electrical Power Testing Certification within two years of entering duty.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to 1) apply knowledge of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques and practices used to analyze, configure, test and troubleshoot control systems; and 2) plan and conduct various projects of broad scope and unconventional requiring the ability to interpret, select and extend pertinent precedents or guides.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
