The incumbent serves as a Plumber responsible for the tasks typical of a journeyman plumber in preventative maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems. He/she is assigned to the Plumbing shop within Facility Management Service.

Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment. Locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings. Placing hangers for proper level and slope. Determining and installing valves, traps and unions needed for completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment. Seating, hooking up and testing the equipment. Installing and maintaining Med Gas systems and backflow prevention devices. Interpreting building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of the system equipment. Using various hand and power tools common to the plumbing trade. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Related experience includes: Responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems.
