About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Serve as supervisor over the Directorate of Production overhaul facilities and off site combat equipment support
Determine the internal plan to be followed by subordinate supervisors in applying resources to effectively accomplish work operations.
Participate with higher level management officials and staff organizations in developing recommendations concerning changes in work techniques and standards; revision of organization structures; and improvement of facility layout and workflow.
Assign and explain work requirements to subordinate levels of supervision, sets deadlines and sequence of operations, direct rearrangement of space and development of specialized tools and equipment as necessary.
Review and analyze production, cost, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress of work and to control or reduce costs.
Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors, make formal appraisals of their work performance, and determines long-range training needs for all levels of subordinate supervisors and workers.
Promote and administer a variety of management programs for the units supervised, such as safety, cost reduction, incentive awards, beneficial suggestions, and quality assurance within policies and procedures established by higher authority.
Ensure that personnel are properly trained in and observe/follow all aspects of hazardous materials/waste management.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc., must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 50% of the time.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain an Official Government Passport (Red) for OCONUS TDY/Travel.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Government issued Credit Card for TDY/Travel expenses.
- Incumbent can be assigned, reassigned, or rotated to another organizational segment while serving continuously within the Directorate of Production without promotion or demotion.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Federal Wage System. A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Position may be filled by Temporary Promotion not to exceed 1 year.
Temporary Promotion may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Production Systems Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Serving as a technical and administrative supervisor in the operations of production operations exercising full supervisory responsibilities. Ability to plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Ability to explain work requirements, methods, and procedures and provide advice when problems arise. Ability to develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Serve as top subject matter expert for the trades and labor occupations, work operations, and functions through one or more layers of supervision and two or more separate organizational segments, groups, or work shifts.
