At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.

Duties

As a Government Information Specialist (Privacy), you will: Respond to data calls relating to FISMA, Section 803 of Implementing the Recommendation of the 9-11 Commission Act of 2007, Social Security documentation reduction, and other reporting requirements. Develop Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs); evaluate privacy risks through the PIA process and subsequently make recommendations to stakeholders so that they can adequately address internal control weaknesses. Ensure that FinCEN has appropriate System of Record Notices (SORNs); develop new SORNs as needed. Advise FinCEN program managers and executives on the formulation of an overall strategy for ensuring that data and records are collected, transmitted, maintained, and utilized only for authorized purposes, with due consideration of the privacy interests of those persons that are subjects of such data.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Developing and creating overall strategy/programs to ensure appropriate safeguards exist for the privacy and integrity of sensitive data, to include financial data, investigative data, personally identifiable information (PII), or other sensitive data; AND - Creating and editing complex documents to support agency Privacy projects and program initiatives, such as System of Records Notices (SORN), Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), Information Sharing and Access Agreements (ISAA), and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandates; OR - Assessing the points of vulnerability at all stages of data collection, maintenance, and dissemination from the perspective of all the individuals and organizations that have custody of or access to this information. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
