This position is located in the Acquisitions Fiscal, Overseas and Support Division, Acquisitions and Bibliographic Access Directorate (ABA), Discovery and Preservation Services. The position description number for this position is 395728. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustment for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.

Duties

Utilizes knowledge of library acquisitions rules, practices and/or procedures to carry out a comprehensive training program. Applies knowledge of sound business practice, legal and ethical standards to advise ABA staff on upholding high standards when interacting and communicating with vendors to purchase materials for the Library’s collections. Utilizes knowledge of Federal Appropriations Law, US Statutes, Library of Congress Regulations (LCR) and all relevant governing authorizations to advise ABA staff at all levels and the recommending divisions how these rules are applied to the Library’s acquisitions program.

Qualifications

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision. Knowledge of the LC Integrated Library System and other online financial systems to provide technical support.** Ability to collaborate with others and provide consultation and liaison services.** Ability to communicate in writing.** Ability to provide training and mentoring.** Ability to analyze, plan, develop and/or execute library programs and projects. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of library collections development. Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
