About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. Position is located at Fort Sill, an Army post north of Lawton, Oklahoma, about 85 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. It is designated as a National Historic Landmark and serves as home of the United States Army Field Artillery School.

Duties

Serves as multi-discipline Security Specialist, responsible for providing security support to two or more intelligence-related security programs. Uses initiative and resourcefulness to independently identify and resolve difficult and complex security issues not resolvable by established regulations, guidelines, or processes. Applies, interprets, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards for the protection of classified information. Provides authoritative information regarding personnel security clearance requirements, sensitive compartmented information access, and adjudicative guidelines to internal and external customers. Develops or supports development of local physical security policies, standards, and procedures, and provides technical guidance designed to protect personnel, facilities, property, and other assets.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. For more information, see note below in Additional Information.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience performing duties in one or more of the following security disciplines; Personnel, Information, Physical, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCI Facilities. AND Experience developing and/or implementing Security policies and procedures for a Special Compartmented Information (SCI) program. AND Experience providing advice to internal and external customers regarding compliance with established security policies and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityPersonnel SecurityPhysical SecuritySensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security NOTE: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
