Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) Delta 8 at Peterson Space Force Base is searching for an Electronics Engineer, Satellite Communications (SATCOM) (NH-0855-03) Description: Delta 8 is in search of a self-motivated individual with experience in SATCOM engineering who can organize work, set priorities, determine resource requirements and define goals and strategies to achieve them, possessing a history with Wideband (WB) satellite payload management, network management, and telecommunications systems management for the WB SATCOM enterprise. Expertise with analyzing interference and link budgeting analysis by participating in International Telecommunications Union (ITU) bilateral meetings, performing interference analysis supporting US and partner ITU proposals and agreements, and participation in ITU Working Party 4A meetings is a definite positive discriminator. Training on, and experience with SATCOM performance standards and their technical implementation is highly desired. Possessing strong technical and interpersonal skills who can effectively coordinate with other organizations, both within the U.S. and international venues; self-monitor progress and evaluate outcomes. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations. Ability to interact on a professional basis and present DoD positions to U.S. and International Partner Program Managers and International delegation representatives. This position oversees all prototype access to space requirements for the DoD. Will set-up the Space Prototype Review Board (SPRB) to review and prioritize all prototypes for access to space. Will lead the Manifest Integrated Product Team (IPT) to evaluate all SPRB approved prototypes for access to space on all future Delta ring approvals. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or higher degree in engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering) from a school of engineering accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Position requires immediate SECRET clearance and TOP SECRET/SCI eligibility. Experience analyzing interference and link budgeting analysis by participating in International Telecommunications Union (ITU) bilateral meetings, performing interference analysis supporting US and partner ITU proposals and agreements is highly desired. Ideal candidate will have experience participating in ITU Working Party 4A development of proposals affecting both X- and Ka-bands, as well as proposals which have secondary effects to DoD to advocate and lobby federal regulators toward positions favorable to DoD. Mastery level of Satellite Communications (SATCOM) technology and programs is highly desired. History with Wideband (WB) satellite payload management, network management, and telecommunications systems management for the WB SATCOM enterprise. Experience and knowledge of SATCOM terminal and modem performance certification by evaluating ground, air, and sea based terminal performance and interoperability with national SATCOM resources. Knowledge of methodologies for new technology testing and modeling ensuring seamless integration into existing SATCOM systems. Experience with contributing to terminal and modem performance requirements in vendor and government-only venues. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Expert knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the variety of professional, technical, and specialty fields based on professional training in electronics engineering and extensive experience in research and development. 2. Expert technical knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and practices of electronics engineering that enables the incumbent to serve as an expert in satellite Radio Frequency (RF) and in the test and evaluation and research and development of evaluation programs for emerging constellations. 3. Experience in testing and evaluation in electronics engineering to make recommendations which result in significant changes to important areas of the test and evaluation programs. 4. Skill in applying advanced electronic engineering concepts, so as to be able to serve as an expert to resolve difficult/novel engineering problems and issues, and plan, design, monitor and evaluate complex engineering programs and projects. 5. Ability to ensure the latest and most desirable developments in RF electronics and related engineering fields, technology, and threats are applied to support testing and training. 6. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. 8. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
