About the Position: Serves as Deputy to the Garrison Commander at the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Garrison at Devens Reserve Forces Training Area, MA. Manages and directs garrison operations of a multi-mission tenant activity. Provides administrative program direction to various civilian directors and special staff involved in a wide variety of functional program areas. Formulates goals, policies, and objectives for the garrison.

Duties

Manage and direct the installation and tenant activity operations for a small single-mission garrison. Provide direction and general management for the administration and operations of various functions and services critical to meeting the needs of the Installation Commander, tenant units, and the Army. Oversee various civilian directors and special staff involved in a variety of functional program areas. Monitor the implementation of higher-level policies and guidance and makes recommendations to adapt guidance for local situations. Participate with the Garrison Manager in managing and directing the Garrison Staff which is organized into various directorates, divisions, and offices.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station, including the Garrison Headquarters for meetings, appointment boards, etc. approximately 10% of the time.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
