About the Position: Responsible for providing a full range of administrative support functions including coordinating directly with the staff Headquarters, Public Health Activity - San Diego to provide the guidance for travel, budget, and administration to Veterinary Service Branches in California.

Duties

Provide required training of new Approving Officials for the Defense Travel System (DTS); and serve as point of contact for DTS troubleshooting. Develop clarifying guidance, procedural controls and standards for personnel to follow which ensure proper use of a Government Travel Card (GTC) in accordance with regulatory guidance. Review travel reports to verify all vouchers are submitted within five business days of travel. Serve as the point of contact for Records Management and Publications Control, with responsibility for reviewing and determining procedural regulatory compliance and execution within each area. Purchase administrative and office supplies, equipment, and services requested by subordinate units; facilitates general purchases and services for the Military Working Dogs (MWDs).

  • This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
