Fully credentialed clinical counselor/advocate located within the Counseling & Advocacy Program at Fleet & Family SC, Navy Region NW at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Incumbent will provide counseling of individuals, couples, families, and groups, on matters pertaining to family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples communication, stress reduction, adjustment to military lifestyles, Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case mgmt, treatment services and psycho-educational training programs.

Duties

This position is that of a fully credentialed clinical counselor/advocate located within the Counseling and Advocacy Program (CAP) at Fleet & Family Support Center, Navy Region Northwest (NRNW) at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Incumbent will provide service in the form of counseling individuals, couples, families, and groups, on matters pertaining to family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples communication, stress reduction, adjustment to military lifestyles, Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case management, treatment services and psycho-educational training programs. Counseling includes psychosocial assessments, development of treatment plans, delivery of treatment, and appropriate referral. Incumbent must demonstrate effective independent clinical assessment skills by identifying crisis situations, e.g. suicide or homicide risk, danger of physical or sexual abuse to family members, and increased risk of further family violence. Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as required. Must independently manage assigned cases; maintain case records, treatment plans, and statistics in accordance with Navy policies and regulations. Responsibilities serve as liaison and maintain working relationships with government and non-government agencies, participate in community liaison meetings, educate and provide case specific consultation to military and civilian agencies. Incumbent may be required to testify at juvenile or family court, and/or military legal hearings regarding Family Advocacy cases. **Partial Telework Eligible**

Requirements

  • Candidate must successfully complete criminal background history check with no adverse information or feedback received. Must be able to be privileged at a Tier II or Tier III level.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: Incumbent requires knowledge of intensive psychosocial services and a wide range of skills (casework, group work, individual and family therapy). Incumbent must meet all the following qualifications: State licensure or state certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner. When state licensing or certification includes written examination, candidate must have achieved a passing score on that examination. Possess Master's Degree in one of the clinical fields; Marriage and Family therapy, Social Work, or Psychology from an accredited program. Must have engaged in 2 years (2000 hours) full-time post-masters supervised clinical experience. Knowledge of military lifestyle demands, ability to present sensitive, at times controversial information to groups of people in clear and concise manner. Incumbent must be able to modify programs to meet needs of the active duty military community. Candidate will have the ability to recognize, identify and assess mental disorders per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Knowledge of dynamic and diagnostic skills necessary for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning. Must be able to communicate in writing to develop and prepare case management memos, correspondence, and reports; to document psycho-social assessments, treatment plans, and case review committee reports and develop lesson plans for briefing and classroom presentations. Computer use with experience using multiple software programs.

Education
