About the Position: Serves as a senior Environmental Engineer/Environmental Scientist for the US Army Chemical Materials Activity (CMA), Compliance Office. This position is located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

Duties

Provide guidance in design and operation of both domestic and industrial wastewater treatment facilities. Develop plans and approaches to resolution of difficult or sensitive toxics control problems. Visit installations to observe operations and inspect or discuss facilities and process. Assess the impact of discharges on reviewing and receiving waters. Determine treatment facility performance. Prepare technical letters and reports citing observations and findings and setting forth recommendations. Determine treatability of chemical compounds found in effluents. Develop programs for the maintenance and improvement of water quality and compliance with laws, regulations and permits. Serve as the primary coordinator for multi-disciplined environmental studies. Initiate requests for mission services, setting up the surveys, and the coordination of the final report. Advise in developing, planning, and implementing new programs and directions regarding pollution abatement activities. Manage the environmental program providing assistance to subordinate sites. Review plans, proposals, design criteria, documents, and discharge permits, etc., submitted by installations and major commands. Provide mentoring, advice, counsel, and instructions on work and administrative matters. Plans and present courses or workshops in water pollution abatement and wastewater management.
