This position is located within the Facilities Management Service at the Robert J. Dole VAMC located in Wichita, KS. The work includes the operation of gasoline, diesel, or electronic powered wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers, or to tow or recover equipment.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
Operates wheeled vehicles, wheel mounted tractor; or engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler-type traction.
Operating passenger buses or passenger ambulance buses regardless of gross vehicle weight.
Driving vehicles in restricted traffic environments on government installations, over public roads, and highway, or under cross country conditions.
Performing other related duties.
Operating platform, van stake and dump trucks, fuel trucks, and trash truck removal trucks which have a gross weight of 26,000 pounds up to 32,000 pounds.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm
DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must the following requirements.
A valid current Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P) Endorsement.
AND
SCREEN OUT ELEMENT: Must have the ability to perform the duties of a motor vehicle operator without more than normal supervision. This ability would be demonstrated by experience includes following all regulations and laws governing the operation of various types of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles to haul cargo and equipment, and transport passengers; and operating a variety of vehicles to include passenger buses and trucks.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The employee exerts moderate physical effort in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavy loads and large number of people.
