About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK), G2, DCSINT, Fort Richardson, AK 99505.

Duties

Serves as a Security Specialist, responsible for the planning, oversight and administration, management, implementation, and enforcement of intelligence-related multi-discipline security. Administers the Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), and Personnel Security (PERSEC) programs, as defined by the AR 380-series regulations. Interprets higher-level guidance and promulgates implementing directives and guidance. Provides technical advice and assistance of a comprehensive security program that does not unduly hamper command/activity operations. Supports Security Education, Training and Awareness (SETA) and mandatory security training for the Command. Provides security program oversight of the implementation processes at the installation.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI). In
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Position requires occasional TDY up to 10%.
  • This is a "Key" position IAW AR 690-11. For Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations, prior to occupying the position, must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Physical Security Certification (PSC) within first two years of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
