The employee will serve as a Financial Accounts Technician (OPECC), at the Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC), in Las Vegas, NV. The CPAC provides a broad range of business services in support of VA medical center operations that include: Billing; Collections; Customer Service; Financial Reporting; Insurance Identification and Verification; Patient Access (Pre-Registration, Registration, Pre-Certification, Scheduling, and Utilization Review); and Quality Assurance.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Ensure claims are submitted in various formats to meet specific requirement of appropriate insurance carriers to improve collections.
Receive and respond to a variety of written and oral communication generated by third party pharmacy payers.
Review, research and analyze account receivable records by utilizing various databases.
Perform analysis on outstanding pharmacy third party receivables to ensure proper debt collections.
Perform claims submission related to prescription drugs provided for beneficiaries.
Verify benefits, policy information, pre-certification requirements, insurance contact information and effective dates of insurance policies.
Make determinations on best course of action regarding billing and accounts management to affect maximum recovery.
Follows all federal laws, national guidelines and agency policies regarding debt collections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: making determinations on best course of action regarding billing and accounts management to affect maximum recovery; providing billing, accounts management and insurance verification functions; submitting claims; reviewing, researching and analyzing account receivable records by utilizing various databases; running multiple reports; and performing follow-up procedures through phone calls, on-line data bases and letters to insurance companies and customers.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Education
