Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Supervisory Nurse (Consultant), you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Serving as Subject matter expert for the organization's quality, safety, and risk program. Identifying internal and external organizational stressors that impede the delivery of quality services. Planning and delegating work assignments to members of the team. Developing written reports and delivering oral briefs to organizational leadership on findings that impact the efficient delivery of healthcare services.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from a foreign nursing school. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Exemption: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. GS-14 Specialized Experience: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements, applicants must have at least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing all of the duties listed below: 1. Overseeing quality and safety programs in an accredited outpatient care clinical setting. 2. Preparing an organization for national quality healthcare accreditation surveys. 3. Communicating, coordinating, and collaborating with all levels of healthcare staff on matters related to performance improvement in a healthcare organization. 4. Evaluating and implementing nationally recognized healthcare quality and safety standards in a clinical setting using industry-standard performance evaluation tools and metric monitoring techniques. 5. Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following aspects of healthcare quality: A. Credentialing and privileging B. Policy writing and implementation C. Environment of care D. Medical records management E. Customer satisfaction F. Safety G. Risk management. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
