You will serve as a Police Officer of NAS MERIDIAN SEC DET.

Duties

You will conduct daily inspections of posts and take immediate action to correct discrepancies noted. You will direct traffic and issue citations for improper vehicle operations and parking violations. You will write reports to provide a description of facts surrounding a crime or an incident.

• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

For The GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Investigating unusual situations pertaining to violations of the law; 2. Conducting checkpoints/roadblocks at various locations to reduce criminal activity; 3. Inspecting packages/personal belongings when admitting personnel into controlled areas; and 4. Responding to emergency calls for service while adhering to state and federal laws. For The GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Issuing citations in violation of law enforcement regulations; 2) Conducting investigations related to critical incidents (i.e., traffic accidents, domestic violence, assaults, child abuse/neglect) in accordance to policies and procedures; 3) Interviewing witnesses to gather information about incidents; and 4) Conducts inspections of vehicles to detect the unauthorized removal of classified material, government property, contraband, weapons, explosives or any items detrimental to security. For The GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: : 1) Issuing citations for violations of the law; 2) Preparing reports and orders for dissemination to other law enforcement officials; and 3) Protecting property, equipment, data, or materials. For The GS-04: Have at least six months of general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws; AND six months of specialized experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Education

For The GS-04:
Have successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law, or similar subjects closely related to police work. OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For The GS-03:
Have successfully completed one year of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 6 semester hours of study pertinent to police work. OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
