About the Position: Dir of RM Housekeeping with the Defense Health Agency, Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, California.

Duties

Use equipment such as notched trowel, banana knife, pointed trowel and heavy-duty scissor. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, machinery and chemical usage instructions. Relocate furniture and other movable items to free floor and wall surfaces. Clean floors, carpets, and walls using appropriate tools. Use floor covering removal equipment, hot water extraction cleaners, bonneting machines, vacuum equipment, steam extraction cleaners, upholstery cleaning implements, and chemical agents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A pre-employment and annual physical is required.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 5% is required with this position.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Work requires travel away from the normal duty station on an occasional basis.
  • Work regularly includes assignment to second, third, or rotating shifts and weekends/holidays.
  • Must meet EPA asbestos worker training requirements and have current Asbestos Worker and/or Asbestos Supervisor Certification in accordance with AHERA TSCA Title II 40 CFR regulations.

I have performed installation, alteration, repair and cleaning of carpet, upholstery, carpet cushions, carpet, tiles and/or similar floor coverings of natural and/or synthetic rubber, vinyl, or polyester/polyester blend composition. Remove, installs and repairs other indicated floor coverings. Cleans upholstery and floor coverings by removing dust and imbedded soil by pre-spotting and utilizing vacuum equipment, pile brush cleaners, steam extraction cleaners, chemicals and bonneting equipment - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Must be able to lift objects weighing 30 to 50 pounds. Heavier items are lifted and carried with assistance. Work requires climbing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, pushing, pulling, standing and working in awkward positions. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which have adequate heat, light and ventilation; may occasionally work outdoors or in extreme hot or cold conditions. May work in dusty or noisy areas. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from cleaning solutions. Work at times is dirty when removing floor coverings and/or spreading some forms of adhesives.
