THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT/HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2459000 and PDD2460000 and is part of the KY AASF, National Guard. ***NOTE: This announcement is for TWO vacancies. One position is designated for the LUH-72 and one position is designated for the UH-60.***

Duties

As an MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT/HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR - TITLE 32, GS-2181-12/13, you will serve as a rotary wing Instructor Pilot. Train and evaluate aviators on flight techniques and procedures. Conduct standardization flight evaluations for air crew members and annual evaluations for assigned pilots. Serve as pilot-in-command to perform airlift support. Flights may be performed with a combination of day, night, and night vision goggle (NVG) operations under favorable and unfavorable conditions or terrain. Perform preflight weather analysis, route and altitude selections, alternate airport selection, fuel, cargo and passenger load computations, selection of refueling stops, preflight inspections, flight plan filing, and firing ranges route planning/coordination. Serve as rotary wing Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP) and/or Functional Check Pilot (FCP). Perform maintenance test flights following maintenance modifications or repairs to include routine scheduled maintenance. Flights are made to determine the airworthiness of the aircraft and to ensure all systems/components are functioning within the maneuvers and loads prescribed in applicable aircraft maintenance manuals and regulations. Ensure compliance with Army maintenance regulations, FAA regulation specifically Part 91. Perform ground maintenance operational checks, troubleshooting, and rotor smoothing. Minimize rotary wing vibration to ensure reduce time before overhaul items and extend component life. Routinely perform flight maneuvers at the maximum limit of operator manual flight characteristics. Maintain requirements and perform function of technical inspector for aircraft assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Must possess appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificate OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months operating a specific main-frame military aircraft: LUH-72 or UH-60, mission planning, and mission preparation. Experience reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experience in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experience in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experience conducting/supervising training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Knowledge is required in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures. In addition to the required specialized experience, candidates must be Instructor Pilot qualified to be considered qualified at the GS-13 level. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates (Example 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981 or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981), work schedule, and hours worked per week of employment.
