The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of direct student support reporting to the Registrar and Director of Student Operations. This position provides educational administrative support for all Graduate School students providing in depth assistance in areas of admissions, registration, student service, or scheduling.
Duties
Supports admissions mission by tracking and entering student quota data and academic specialty codes utilizing Air Force Education Requirements Board (AFERB), Air University Registrar Education Program Management (AUREPM) and in coordination with HQ Air Force Personnel Center.
Responsible for publishing and maintaining the content of the official student handbook.
Plans, directs, and conducts awards and graduation ceremonies.
Assists the Instructor of Ethical Writing with the management of the thesis and dissertation process.
Provides management advice and assistance to the Registrar and Director of Student Operations regarding resources, budget development and execution, and information technology integration and support to effectively meet current and long-range goals and objectives.

- A Bachelors degree in Education or Business is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience providing educational administrative support for college level students; providing in-depth assistance in specialty areas such as admissions, registration, student service, or scheduling; and experience providing support through all areas of the student life cycle. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

EDUCATION: a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D. in a field directly related to the position which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education in a field directly related to the position that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of this position. Only graduate level experience in excess of two years may be used to qualify based on a combination of education and experience. Note: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices related to education administration matters, and management information systems.
2. Knowledge of a variety of academic, occupational, vocational, and career development resources (educational and/or community).
3. Ability to interpret agency directives, instructions, and guidance and make local decisions and recommendations based on analysis.
4. Ability to gather, develop, and analyze a variety of data and to make recommendations based on analysis.
5. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices and procedures.
6. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
