Duties

As a Supervisory Wildlife Biologist, you will perform duties to include but not limited to the following: Direct the work of the Conservation/Wildlife Branch as the Installation Fish and Wildlife Manager in accordance with regulatory guidance. Review military training activities, construction projects, and other proposed actions for impacts to installation endangered species, wetlands, and migratory birds to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Articulate information to individuals or groups in a clear and concise manner while taking into account the audience and nature of the information. Convey information in a clear and concise manner using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling to senior leaders within and outside the organization.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License.
• The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
• Subject to call back 24 hours a day 7 days a week, as required.
• One year Supervisory probationary period may be required
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5% of the time.

Basic Requirement for Wildlife Biologist: You must meet one of the basic education requirements, as well as the specialized experience, to qualify for this position. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological science that included at least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; AND at least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); AND at least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience required: : One FULL year of specialized experience which includes experience applying standard practices related to wildlife biology science, modifying standard practices and present solutions requiring adaptation of precedents; preparing estimates for use in budgeting in order to execute planning towards wildlife biology and assure conformance to principles of wildlife biology standards.
