This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, Eighth Coast Guard District; Operations Division, Office of Law Enforcement and Intelligence, Brownville, TX

Duties

The position serves as an Intelligence Operations Specialist, responsible for collecting, reviewing, evaluating, interpreting, and analyzing law enforcement intelligence on all maritime threats in and around the ports and riverine waterways.  Producing intelligence reports, disseminating tactical and operational intelligence to the port level operational commander, Coast Guard Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centers, Intelligence Coordination Center, and other Intelligence and Law Enforcement agencies.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Drug test is required.
  • This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Applicant must be able to read, write and speak Engilsh/Spanish fluently
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Specialized experience includes: conducting human intelligence or law enforcement intelligence operations; conducting intergovernmental operations and liaison activities; writing intelligence collection reports and analysis; researching and analyzing intelligence topics; briefing intelligence topics in a public setting; semi-autonomous work as an intelligence officer, law enforcement investigator, or special agent.  National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
