About the position: This position will be assigned to the Youth Center on Keesler Air Force Base.
This is a flexible position. You are guaranteed 0 hours but could work up to 40 hours a week.
Duties
Performs primarily substantive clerical work in support of technical administrative management and/or operational requirements Youth Program/School Age Program. Receives and refers telephone calls and visitors, provides information or refers to supervisor. . Establishes, updates and maintains office records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office. Typical duties include maintaining records; receiving, screening, reviewing, and verifying documents; searching for and compiling information and data; providing a central source of information; preparing and/or verifying the validity of documents, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as primary point of contact (POC) for enrollment, monitoring the on-line waiting list through the Military Child Care (MCC) website, and submitting CACFP documents in the updated electronic systems. Uses multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Provides information about the organization, functions, activities, and personnel. Maintains front desk registry sheets for all visiting Child and Youth Program's patrons and visitors. Refers visitors to the proper person or room. May serve as POC for programs such as Give Parents a Break and Respite care in absence of Child and Youth Programs Director. May assist with breaks during periods of staff shortfalls due to leave and unforeseen absences. Accepts application for Department of Defense Child Care Fees, Air Force Youth Flight Program Patron Registration and Youth Flight Medication Permission from Enrolls and registers children for participation in the program. Assists parents in completing enrollment forms. Maintains a waiting list and notifies applicant when a vacancy occurs. Greets patrons and helps children make transition to assigned youth activity group. Remains alert to detect early signs of distress, abnormal behavior, or suspected illness or diseases in children. Collects fees, posts patron's account, and follows up on past due accounts. Safeguards cash receipts and prepare daily activity reports. Assists with ordering and distributing supplies, arranging meetings and/or appointments. As required, opens and closes facility. Operates word processor to update records and prepare reports. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age of 18 and a favorable fitness determination to do so.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more and stand for long periods of time. Must have experience in responsible clerical or office work, which has demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position. A practical knowledge of administrative and cash accounting procedures is desirable. Knowledge of word processor/typewriter keyboard is desirable. Must be able to satisfactorily complete installation, state, and national criminal background checks.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
