About the position: This position will be assigned to the Northern Lights Consolidated Club located on Grand Forks AFB, ND.

Duties

Performs visual examination of facility, grounds and equipment to determine the need for cleaning and/or repair work and performs the following duties using hand and power tools: 1. According to instructions, performs simple carpentry tasks such as constructing/replacing/repairing shelves, counters and showcases. 2.Prepares surfaces to be painted by sanding, wire brushing, scraping, spackling, and puttying. Applies paints, varnish, stains, or similar coating using paint brushes, paint rollers, and spray guns. 3.Install simple electrical lighting fixtures; replaces burned-out ballasts, fuses, and light bulbs; replaces/repairs extension cords, electrical outlets, and fixtures. 4.Performs minor plumbing repair such as freeing clogged drains and replacing washers to control leaking faucets. 5.Removes, replaces, and repairs windows blinds when necessary. Installs and repairs drapery rods and brackets as needed. 6.Performs minor repairs on furniture to include replacing screws, nails, nuts, and bolts. 7.May be required to pick up and deliver trash and residue to the Base Landfill or deliver to Base Recycling those items, materials, or equipment that is recyclable. May pick up parts/ supplies from city stores. 8. Uses wet/dry vacuum daily and steam cleaners/shampooers as required to provide preventive maintenance and maintain cleaning standards to all rooms and hallways carpet. Strips and cleans floors (vinyl and/or tile). Determines appropriate method and chemicals needed for cleaning areas. 9. Responsible for daily cleaning and minor maintenance of all club vehicles. Checks vehicle tire pressure, oil and fuel levels. 10. Lifts and moves furniture, tables, etc. to arrange according to function lay-out. Sets-up equipment required for lunch line and special functions. Uses table cloths and skirts as required 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.

Qualifying Experience: Must have general experience which provided a basic knowledge and ability to perform minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical duties. Must be skilled in the use of common hand tools, power tools, power equipment and in measuring and aligning items to be installed. Must be physically able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally heavier objects with assistance. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license. May be required to obtain a government driver's license. Must be able to read, write and speak English. May be required to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
