This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Kimbrough is the headquarters of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC), Fort George G. Meade, includes U.S. Army health clinics, occupational health clinics, telemedicine, behavioral health, allergen extract lab, drug testing labs, and environmental health clinics.

Duties

Prioritizes treatments for patient having multiple problems and employs a variety of established emergency medicine techniques, methods, and equipment to the appropriate medical facility. Performs operator maintenance on the vehicles and equipment, as required. When not on emergency runs or patient transport missions, may be required to work in the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) emergency room to provide patient care within the scope of practice. Respond on-site to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses, sometimes encounters situations which may be life threatening. Perform procedures, as required, and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols. Conduct a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of his condition and searches for medical alert symbols. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Position must be a National Registry Paramedic.
  • Position may require to work weekend call duties and evenings. Position works 48/96 work schedule.
  • Position requires a childcare background check.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Position requires a physical.
  • Position requires heavy lifting.
  • Position requires Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: I have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level of pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) extracting or working with patients' body fluids or tissues; 2) preparing patient specimens for examination; 3) performing specialized or non-routine tests on body fluids or tissue samples, or confirms patients' test results.
