About the Position: Perform a variety of administrative support functions associated with information flow, military and civilian personnel, mail, and timekeeping. This position is located at the Military Entrance Processing Section (MEPS) in Louisville, Kentucky.

Duties

Receive and answers routine telephone inquiries or refers to the appropriate staff. Serve as the Commander's point of contact on civilian personnel matters, requirements and suspense's. Provide advice and guidance to staff personnel concerning such matters as time and leave procedures, travel vouchers, and reporting and correspondence procedures. Provide administrative support preparing reports and other documents utilizing various software and automated information systems to electronically retrieve, create, review, format, transmit, finalize, print and save documents and reports. Act as the primary civilian and military personnel systems manager for employees of the (MEPS).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a DD 285 Mail Handler’s Card and pass background screening to qualify for and sustain system passwords and access automated data systems.
  • Position is considered a confidential employee (with respect to labor-management relations).

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Directing visitors and/or calls to appropriate personnel; 2) Review incoming and/or outgoing correspondence to ensure accuracy in accordance with regulations; 3) Use an automated personnel database to initiate personnel actions; AND 4) Serve as timekeeper and/or complete weekly labor reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
