Duties

Determine priorities of projects and assigns specific analytical tests to be performed on bulk drugs or finished dosage forms. Compile analytical chemistry data for Investigational New Drug (IND) Applications to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Serve as Project Officer for research contracts concerned with the analysis of chemicals and pharmaceutical dosage forms and research contracts concerned with the shelf life of clinical dosage forms. Develop and contribute to the Branch's publications, which includes compilation of chemical information summaries.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-14 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: Basic Education Requirement: You must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's or graduate or higher degree in physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics OR a combination of education and experience course work equivalent to a major as shown above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Additional Requirement: In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirement, you must also demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning priorities of projects for analytical tests to be performed on bulk drugs or finished dosage forms; compiling analytical chemistry data for applications to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); preparing specifications for the routine quality control of bulk drugs; and preparing chemical information for publications and oral presentations. You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
