About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, Mission Support Element -JRTC & Ft Johnson, Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, Fort Johnson, LA 71459.

Duties

Serves as General Military Intelligence (I and TS) Research Analyst for the command. Evaluates political and military situations in assigned geographical area to determine probable course of action. Conducts research, analyzes, and assembles source materials, justifies conclusions, and prepares drafts and briefings to communicate results to superiors and consumers. Screens and analyzes intelligence on current and projected threats across a wide range of areas that includes force tactics, doctrine, and equipment. Identifies training capability gaps in the Operating Environment and OPFOR that impact the Army’s ability to conduct realistic leader development and training; and offers solutions to training capability gaps. Produces presentations using Microsoft Office and other digital and collaborative tools to communicate prepare and present briefings, training gap solutions and other subjects as assigned. Attend inter-agency and international conferences and meetings on issues of intelligence analysis to maintain currency in methods, assessments, and sources.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. Education

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a closely related (CR) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
