This position is located in the Veteran Transpiration Service (VTS) at Albuquerque Health Care System in Albuquerque , New Mexico. The Transportation Assistant serves as a Transportation Coordinator at the facility level and acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs.
Duties

The Transportation Assistant is responsible for collaborating with the VTS Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS)
Performing a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports and collating in-coming data from a variety of sources
Reviewing documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies
Entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system
Receiving DSS extracts to verify that the workload being captured in DSS is correct
Maintaining automated system of program-specific data to track items
Interacting with various other transportation services such as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) etc., and other transportation providers
Coordinating service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas
Planning consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner
Utilizing the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult Request Tracking System
Providing procedural support in administering quality monitors to be utilized in the internal consultation process
Assisting the Mobility Manager in planning and directing programs that provide VTS support services functions
Reviewing workload types in Veteran Transportation Service
Validating program workload and ensure reporting is accurate
Responding to "action required" notifications and insuring the primary providers are correct
Coordinating the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes and functions
Providing technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources
Planning and providing support services in the following types of program areas
Providing advisory services to the Mobility Manager regarding the requirements and implications of the office services provided
Providing advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs
Performing other related duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: The following are minimum requirements for appointment as a Transportation Assistant in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), which all applicants must met.
Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (i.e., GS-05). Qualifying examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: coordinating travel/transportation needs for clients or staff in organization; utilizing various software applications to collect and track data, create correspondence, and generate reports; and interacting with internal and external customers to provide customer service. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes.
