The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency E-911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains all emergency responses equipment and personnel to ensure prompt and accurate response. Provide advance emergency medical dispatch (EMD) life support through pre-arrival instructions to callers.
Duties
Provide emergency E-911-call taking and dispatching services.
Perform EMD services to callers with medical emergencies.
Maintain maps, checklists, and charts, including automated programs.
Operate and maintain telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other devices installed in the dispatch center.
Prepare and maintain reports and records relating to emergency responses.

- Must be able to relocate to the alternate Fire Alarm Communication center (FACC ) location, or use any available general purpose vehicle. Must be able to
transport 30 - 35 lbs. of books and equipment during relocation process
- Must possess and maintain a valid civilian and government drivers license. Work may be required to travel on a commercial or military aircraft to attend temporary duty for training purposes.

- This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment.
- 'Key' position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbent must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available
- Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an
emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs
- Employee must participate in recurrent proficiency training, exercises by relaying accurate information, be resourceful and alert to adequately perform duties

recall
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position being filled. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained while assisting in dispatching emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls, aircraft emergency notifications and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment including police, fire fighting, hazardous materials, wild land firefighting, technical rescue, aircraft rescue firefighting, and ambulance services. Assisting in maintaining and ensuring emergency response equipment and personnel for prompt and accurate response.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of communications operations and emergency dispatching policies and procedures. Knowledge of Emergency Medical Dispatch services in order to determine the appropriate procedures for 911 callers.
Knowledge of basic computer operations to include word processing, retrieval, and input of date. A qualified typist is not required.
Knowledge of location and availability of emergency apparatus, the kind of apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at hand.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing using a calm and stable demeanor while dealing with emergency situations. Ability to assess incoming information (problems presented) in fire, medical and other emergency situations and quickly determine the proper dispatching course of action.
Ability to work independently without immediate supervision.
Knowledge of emergency response agencies and services, including police, fire and medical.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
