This position is part of the Selective Service System, Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, Data Management Center. The incumbent will be responsible for handling personal identifiable information (PII) to manage a full array of Registration documents.
Duties
Applies technical knowledge of electronic document processing; manage an assortment of documents.
Knowledge of rules and regulations governing and handling personally identifiable information (PII).
Prepares documents for scanning, operating equipment and assuring quality control of images and files.
Serves as electronic file/records point of contact; enforces Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts.
Plans and implements safeguarding information.
Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all scanning hardware and software, while ensuring its optimal performance.
Qualifications
For the Document Services Technician GS-0303-07 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include (1) receiving, organizing, and prioritizing documentation for scanning and indexing; (2) entering data from hard copy documents or digital images into a data base; and (3) troubleshooting computer equipment and Microsoft software issues to resolve problems.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at this series/grade.
