The primary purpose of the position is to perform as a Materials Handler within the Property Management Warehouse section, the duties of which support to the flow of keeping new equipment, products and supplies coming in and to ship aging equipment out of the facility. Incumbent performs a variety of duties contributing to accurate inventory management, control and purchasing.
Duties
Shipping and Receiving: Responsible for accomplishing complete warehouse operations which include receiving, storing, shipping, and issuing items on a continued basis. Packs, unpacks, sorts, tallies, stacks, and moves items. Plans item locations within a well-prescribed overall storage plan. Maintains and surveils stock to determine need for repacking, preservation, and overall maintenance of stored items within the Warehouse. Material Handler must ensure all receiving reports are processed within 24 hours, in an accurate manner and within all established guidelines. Proper receiving reports allow for accountability and payment purposes. All items stocked in the warehouse must be marked and placed in the appropriate locations within eight hours of receipt. All deliveries must be properly inspected at time of delivery, with proper identification of any damage or apparent damage. All damage receipts must be processed in accordance with regulations. Material Handler is responsible for the security of the warehouse. Material handler coordinates the receipt and shipment of supplies and property between activities, users, shippers, and vendors. Receives property, supply, and other shipments, and prepares property for shipment. Using knowledge of warehouse function to load and unload shipments from trucks, trailers, and other material conveyances. Verifies bills of lading, identifies and reports discrepancies, receives or rejects shipments. Uses fork lifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, loaders and unloading of stock. Material handler may be required to handle hazardous or sensitive materials. Material handler prepares shipping and inventory systems with required data for manual or automated inventory systems. Insures correctness of quantities, and identification of criteria and labeling, accuracy of shipped or received items, and records receipt or shipment into the manual or automated system. Updates inventory records and prepares reports on inventory status.
Deliveries: Material handler organizes, arranges, assembles, and delivers stock within and to storage areas in a safe and orderly manner that prevents damage to stock or injury to persons. Material handler uses automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, and computer keyboards to load computerized inventory data, access inventory information, and fill item requisitions. They stack, move, and arrange items on pallets considering height, weight, and special handling requirements. Ensures that proper height, weight, and other load and storage requirements are met, and that damage is prevented. Material handler maintains receiving and shipping documents and the hazard material inventory. Operates warehouse vehicles including warehouse tractors, fork lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, or other required equipment as necessary to move, load, and unload stock. Handler performs routine operator maintenance on all equipment and vehicles utilized. Keeps track of turnover of items, and prepares receiving and shipping reports and locator records. Performs typing and other clerical or technical support concerned with receiving, handling, storage, maintaining while in storage, issuing, and controlling items within a distribution system, and reporting findings to supervisor.
Transportation: Operates and maintains a variety of motor vehicles i.e. sedan, pickup truck, stake bed truck, panel van, moving van, etc. for the purpose of moving supplies and property between storage facilities or to and from the point of use. Performs other related duties that are assigned.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Physically, the Materials Hander is expected to be able to meet the following functional requirements: heavy carrying (45 pounds and over); straight pulling (1 hour); Pushing (1 hour); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (1 hour); standing ( hour); repeated bending (1 hour); both legs required; operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; both eyes required; depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shade of colors; hearing (aid permitted); and must have Drivers License.
