These positions are located at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, IL - a level 1a Complexity VHA Facility and is organizationally aligned under the Medical Imaging Service. The purpose of the position is to perform routine radiographic examination procedures under the close supervision of a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** NOTE: This is a part-time position (5 hours weekly). The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period. Likewise, benefits and time-off accrual will also be prorated and based on your part-time work schedule. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs diagnostic radiographic examinations which are routine and require no deviation from standard positioning and technical factors (control settings). Operates automatic film processing machines to develop X-ray film and prepares film processing chemicals. Performs related clerical duties such as identifying film and recording pertinent data on charts, work requests, and records. Performs other related duties as assigned. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. In order to qualify for this position, applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum requirements: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Possess six months of general experience. General experience is any type of work that demonstrates your ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. NOTE TO APPLICANTS: Your answer will be verified against information provided on your resume. If your resume does not clearly support your response by addressing your work experience in detail you will be disqualified. OR EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successfully completed 1 year of education above the high school level with courses that included study in medical, health, or related fields. NOTE TO APPLICANTS: This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. OR COMBINATION: Possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as previously described to fully meet the requirements of this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: CommunicationCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Infection Control IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work requires long periods of standing and walking. There is some bending and carrying of light items such as single exposure film cassettes. There is occasional lifting of moderately heavy items such as one- or two-gallon containers of film processing chemicals.
