THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2163000 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
Duties
As a Security Specialist (Unit Deployment Manager), GS-0080-09, you will direct, obtain, maintain, and provide for proper usage of Security Forces equipment in order to meet unit objectives. You will track operational and performance data on tools and equipment to provide feedback for appropriate activity. You will direct the repair of tools and equipment. You will ensure timely calibration of equipment. You will maintain liaison with interservice, Air Force, MAJCOM, and other agencies to ensure proper acquisition, use, and maintenance of major equipment items required to support the unit. You will plan for the use of physical security equipment, ensuring the most efficient and economical combination of manpower and equipment. You will implement DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and plans. You will coordinate and monitor short- and long-term equipment requirements. You will ensure personnel are properly trained on various types of security equipment regarding operation, care, and maintenance. You will review and analyze equipment utilization and failure rates, repair and replacement costs, and technological advancements. You will coordinate with functional to accurately estimate the cost of technologically advanced future equipment needs. You will receive requests for security equipment, determine needs and justification, review appropriate directives and other source material, obtain ordering information and authorization, and prepare any required forms. You will conduct follow-up coordination. You will prepare briefings through the review of resources management reports and inventories to advise leadership of the resource situation as it affects the unit mission. You will keep the commander informed on the status of all assigned and forecasted weapons, vehicles, equipment, and supplies.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
FLANG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.
MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted/ Officer; E5 thru O2.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-07 level or the equivalent which provided a working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and federal civilian or military personnel programs; experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion ofmaster's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
