About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Logistics at General Leonard Wood Community Hospital within the Equipment Management Branch,

Duties

Install complex medical equipment and systems to include standalone equipment and/or components that contain integrated circuitry or microprocessors. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance. Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services inspections of medical patient care equipment. Provide training on procedures and methods of operations of patient care equipment for staff personnel. Recommend solutions to electro-mechanical and electronic problems that involve component failure and marginal operating characteristics.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds may be required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

Basic Requirement for Electronics Technician (Biomedical): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes: troubleshooting electronic components or medical equipment problems; installing patient medical/non-medical equipment; and performing diagnostics on equipment to ensure patient safety. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computers and ElectronicsElectronics EngineeringOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
