The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative information and assistance to the Superintendent or to the manager of the unit (if located at headquarters, a regional office, or a center) and staff, on the practical and technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting, acquisition and property management, human resources, and other administrative support services, and to perform staff support work in each of these areas.

Duties

Valley Forge National Historical Park (VAFO), Hopewell Furnace National Historical Site (HOFU) and Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail (WARO) operate with a shared Business Services Division that provides administrative services all three units. This position will be based at VAFO; however, the incumbent may be required to report to HOFU or another location within the local commuting area on a day-by-day basis. The purpose of this position is to carry out property, fleet, housing and other administrative duties as assigned. This position is open to current permanent DOI employees only within the local commuting area (60 miles) of the park.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs typing, and a 40 words per minute typing speed based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors is required. Resume should indicate you meet this requirement. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: processing incoming and outgoing mail; creating tracking logs using database software such as Microsoft Excel; maintaining hard copy and electronic filing systems in accordance with regulations and agency directives; managing accountable property and supply inventories; utilizing software applications including Chrome, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Edge and Adobe Pro to create and edit correspondence, reports, and forms; acting in a confidential capacity with respect to daily activities of the office and providing customer support and assistance. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of education above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in an accredited institution. You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. (Note: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study {30 semester hours} beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.) For example, 6 months of specialized experience as described above (50% of the experience requirement), and 3 years of college study as described above (50% of the education requirement). Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: utilizing software applications including Chrome, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Edge and Adobe Pro to research, create and edit correspondence, reports, and forms; creating pre-purchase requests and reconciling purchases; using a financial business management system to enter and update accountable property inventories, enter data and run reports; purchasing supplies and services by proper procurement methods; providing organizational support services such as timekeeping, arranging travel authorizations and vouchers in an automated travel system, and managing payroll using a time and attendance management system. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: performing a wide variety of advanced administrative functions such as serving as technical advisor for administrative processes and policies (e.g., file maintenance, software data collection, managing suspense items); creating travel authorizations and vouchers using an automated travel system; advising on procurement; drafting, reviewing, and editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Edge and Adobe Pro; arranging meetings using Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom; creating pre-purchase requests and reconciling government charge card purchases; using an automated financial system to produce and run reports, enter and edit financial data, pay invoices, enter and update accountable property inventories; serving as point of contact for time and attendance, identifying, discrepancies, and conducting leave audits in a time and attendance management system. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
