You will serve as a PRODUCTION MACHINERY MECHANIC in the INDUSTRIAL PLANT EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES (06B), HULL DIVISION (TRF310), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will energize equipment to conduct visual and operational checks on all crucial components. You will lay out work and perform measurements related to machining work associated with the maintenance of industrial plant equipment. You will interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, ship drawings, etc. to perform job duties. You will use and maintain tools and equipment related to the machinist trade.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT SUPERVISION SUCH AS: Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, adjusting, manufacturing and installing industrial plant equipment in the various shops; Experience performing routine and preventative maintenance on assigned machinery, tools, and equipment; Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and installing a range of industrial plant equipment used throughout shops and onboard submarines. Experience tracing and locating problems within equipment utilizing shop and manufacturer technical manuals; Experience disassembling equipment to perform repairs to gearing systems, replace bearings, or replace or repair broken or worn parts. Experience determining the need for and manufactures replacement parts via operation of a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, shears, brakes, presses, etc.); and Experience performing verification tests on equipment repaired/maintained to certify proper and safe operation.
