THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) (Title 32), Position Description Number D2726000 and is part of the AR ARNG DCSG4 SUPPORT OFFICE, National Guard. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQURED

Duties

1. Utilizes an extensive knowledge of logistics programs/operations and a clear understanding of automated systems to manage projects and programs for systems integration of CSS automation. Administers tactical local area network (LAN) clients, monitors ongoing operation of tactical network systems to ensure hardware and software functions, and meets operational standards. Identifies and resolves complex tactical network related problems occurring within the assigned area of responsibility. Responds to customer requests for assistance, ensuring trouble reports are handled expeditiously. Troubleshoots hardware, software, and LAN/Client operating system problems. Ensures software and vulnerability updates are applied in proper order. Coordinates and communicates with the Department of the Army (DA), and National Guard Bureau (NGB) regarding CSS operations and automated systems support, problem resolution, software upgrades and change packages. Assists functional users in automated CSS systems management and operation. Serves as a Systems Administrator for all CSS automated logistics information systems and programs and as a technical expert within the state/territory is responsible for providing technical and functional guidance for specified Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to operators and supervisors. Provides input to supervisor to ensure SASMO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current. Receives trouble tickets and reviews priorities on a weekly and/or monthly basis. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves technical problems identified in trouble tickets and performs initial setup of specified T automated logistics information system computers to include loading software, configuring modem and network card(s), assigning Internet Protocol (IP) addresses with correct subnet, connectivity to the network, and completing technical inspections. 2. Serves as the primary point of contact for Functional Administrators and users of the serviced database(s) in the absence of a Logistics Information Technology (LIT) Specialist (SASMO). Administers the day-to-day database operation and maintenance of the serviced database(s). Performs tests to ensure the serviced database(s) efficiently collects, stores, and processes data. Evaluates, determines, and initiates corrective action to recover or restore data and return the database(s) to operational status. Provides direction and guidance to supported CSS automated logistics information system users in the submission of automated systems problem reports and/or change proposals. Receives, reviews, consolidates, and accounts for system problem reports and engineer change proposals (ECPs) submitted from supported units/activities to ensure subsequent distribution to National Guard Bureau (NGB). Manages the receipt, review, validation, distribution, and implementation of all CSS software received in the State/Territory, ensuring proper installation, testing and evaluation. Oversees the CSS resource library and the retrieval and disposal of CSS software. 3. Analyzes requirements, manages, and coordinates hardware for automated logistics information system and peripherals pertaining to the receipt, distribution, installation and life cycle management of devices that are directed to be managed at unit/state level. Installs, tests, and evaluates automated logistics information systems hardware. Manages the state/territory CSS automation hardware tactical computer exchange (TCX) (aka equipment float) program and ensures accountability of exchanges. Performs organizational and direct support level automated logistics information system hardware maintenance as required. Determines systemic problems during maintenance of hardware or in the application of software and initiates corrective action as needed. Provides operator level assistance on automated logistics information systems and programs. Troubleshoots automated logistics information systems and programs. Coordinates and administers assigned training programs. Provides technical assistance to functional users for start-up and operation of automated logistics information systems and programs. Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Use the OPM Individual Occupation Requirements (IORs) (Alternative A) for positions in this series. Include experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 - 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM IORs (Alternative A) specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training receiving, maintaining, and issuing data storage media for computer operations. Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.

DUTIES CONTINUED:

4. Serves as the point of contact for the Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO) Work Order Desk. Provides telephone coverage for users requesting assistance with hardware/software via a help desk, resolve problems if possible or refer problems to a technical specialist or contractor supplied support services; as well as prepares and accomplishes all workorder work order routing. Maintains an automated database of customer requests, ensuring that current statuses are updated. Provides reports to supervisor for unusual problems or upon request. Administers and coordinates warranty contracts related to system support. Provides technical assistance and support on computer and other IT related problems. Technical assistance includes equipment operation and maintenance, analytical techniques to test and analyze computer equipment malfunctions and software errors. Provides timely, courteous, and professional service when conversing and interacting with users both telephonically and face-to-face. Provides technical assistance to local functional users to minimize operational disruptions.
