This position is located in External Affairs Directorate, Office Of Citizenship, Partnership and Engagement.
As a Community Relations Specialist, you will support public engagement, outreach, and educational activities related to USCIS policies, programs and procedures by maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
Duties
Apprise OCPE leadership of obstacles, tensions, and/or crises that may impact the delivery of USCIS programs and coordinate with leadership to ensure effective delivery of outreach and education on USCIS programs.
Promote local dialogue about USCIS programs and initiatives by coordinating forums, community meetings, and other special events.
Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders (nonprofits, government entities, educators, and advocacy groups) to enable communication and to maintain a feedback loop to ensure communication on concerns that could impact USCIS programs.
Provide authoritative technical expertise and assistance to public officials and the local community by interpreting and clarifying agency policies and programs.
Provide training or information sessions to local stakeholders on new USCIS policies and programs/initiatives to ensure that the information reaches the widest possible immigration audience.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/26/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/26/2024.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Developing appropriate communication channels, techniques and strategies for collecting feedback and disseminating information to stakeholders.
Communicating policy changes to the public to achieve compliance with new regulations.
Providing written communication with recommendations on policies, projects or studies.
