This position is located in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Medford District. The work involves preparing advertised timber sale contracts and negotiated timber sale contracts that total $4,000,000 to $15,000,000 annually to meet agency long-range timber sale targets of approximately 51,000,000 board feet. Each timber sale contract generally includes multiple reciprocal rights-of-way or license agreements, and/or easements that need to be completed and enforced.
Duties
Salary Ranges - Medford, OR: GS-08: $54,292 - $70,578 per year; GS-09: $59,966 - $77,955 per year.
This position serves as the Medford District timber sales support specialist and works under the direct supervision of the District Forester.
Major Duties for the GS-08 level will be similar to those listed below with closer supervision.
At the full performance level (GS-09), Major Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating and providing expertise in all aspects of timber sale operations including reporting; bid openings; contract accounting; contract preparation, modifications, and terminations; trespass cases; and contracts for the sale of special forest products.
Assisting with planning and environmental compliance documentation and records.
Monitoring fee collections for maintenance of roads covered under various legal agreements.

Qualifications
In order to qualify you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Minimum Qualification Requirement, GS-08: Have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing 3 or more of the following: (1) Assisting with executing timber management programs in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and major functions; (2) Assisting with administering forestry actions within state and federal standards governing the use of forest resources; (3) Inputting, editing, or maintaining accounting databases; (4) Monitoring or inspecting timber sales with conventional contract requirements and conditions; (5) Collecting or maintaining data to prepare reports.
Minimum Qualification Requirement, GS-09: Have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing 3 or more of the following: (1) Executing timber management programs in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and major functions; (2) Administering forestry actions within state and federal standards governing the use of forest resources; (3) Inputting, editing, and maintaining accounting databases; (4) Performing timber sale preparation duties such as cruises, sample surveys or collecting timber presale information data; (5) Interpreting and explaining standard contract provisions.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).
One year at the GS-07 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level
One year at the GS-08 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
