This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resources Division, Quantico Health Unit (Clinic).
The Health System Specialist serves as the Quantico Health Unit (Clinic) practice manager overseeing the efficient functioning of the Quantico Training Academy Clinic located at the DEA Training Academy.

As a your typical work assignments may include:
Manages all administrative duties practical of a clinic and is responsible for the success of the daily operations of the Clinic.
Directs analysis and evaluation of healthcare delivery and the effectiveness and efficiency of support provided to the Academy staff and trainees.
Responsible for the administrative management of the budgetary operations and supply chain management.
Acts as liaison between contract clinical staff and the DEA.
Responsible for implementing and supporting clinical and administrative processes in order to ensure all necessary resources are available for staff.
Oversees all Clinic contract staff issues, including documenting staff issues and coordination with Contracting Officer Representtative and Section Chief.
Assumes the day-to-day supervision of the clinic operations and staff distribution to meet Training Academy mission.

Qualifications
The Health System Specialist GS-0671 series has specific Individual Occupational Requirements (IORs), which must be met for this position in addition to the specialized experience requirement.
Basic Requirement - Individual Occupational Requirements
Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study -- hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.
or
Specialized Experience
(for positions above GS-5): Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following:
Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and
Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.
AND
You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes performing the following duties: 1) Assisting in overseeing and monitoring the administrative operation of a health care center (e.g., clinic); 2) Planning, coordinating and directing all administrative processes and methods within a health care center; 3) Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations; and 4) Providing recommendations to improve the delivery of a health care system.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes performing the following duties: 1) Managing the administrative operation of a health care center (e.g., clinic) to include budgetary operations and supply chain management; 2) Planning, coordinating and directing all administrative processes and methods within a health care center; 3) Assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations; 4) Providing recommendations to improve the delivery of a health care system; and 5) Ensuring health programs and operations are in compliance with all accreditation and regulatory aspects of the delivery of medical services.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
