Duties

As a Supervisory Program Specialist, you will: Serve as Director of Office of the Chief of Staff's Scheduling and Advance Team. Serve as the primary representative for CDC-wide in planning, coordinating, and ensuring the successful staging and completion of high-profile special events that are of interest and importance to the CDC Director and other CDC leadership. Participate in top-level discussion and decision meetings on strategic planning, internal and external strategy development. Conduct critical analyses for the CDC Director and Chief of Staff on the most complicated policies and/or problems. Operate in an environment of public and political visibility and time pressure on assignments that may involve controversy, have no precedent, and require a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness. Serve as the focal point of contact for all requests (internal and external) for the participation of the Director and Immediate Office of the Director at meetings and events. Serve as the liaison for the Director for media events, congressional activities, and other federal agencies for the purpose of briefings, hearings, meetings, etc. Establish and maintain liaison with key national and international partners. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering difficulty and requirements of assignments as well as the capabilities of employees.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of high-visibility meetings and events such as speaking engagements, press events, etc., for a high-profile executive or public official; and coordinating the logistics and scheduling, security, travel for meetings, events, and visits. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
