This position is located in the Department of the Chief Program Officer, Office of AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) in Vinton, IA. The NCCC is a full-time, team based residential program for men and women ages 18 to 26. The program is designed to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. Duties

The Support Services Associate accomplishes a variety of logistical and other support functions that are that are essential to accomplishing the NCCC program. Responsibilities include procurement, inventory accountability, IT support, and supporting GSA vehicle management, facilities, and safety. Primary responsibilities will include the following Inventory and Technology: Conducts surveys of supply, equipment (including computers and other electronic devices) and furniture. Determines stock levels for various items based on usage, inventory, and projected needs and depletions. Prepares and submits purchase orders or other requests for the Authorizing official's authorization for purchasing supplies, equipment, and furniture. Makes authorized purchases through the use of the Government Purchase Card. Receives ordered items and equipment and verifies quantity, description, condition and price to actual order. Discrepancies are reported to the Support Services Specialist for action. Tracks and maintains current and accurate property records utilizing automated and manual systems. Disposes of excess government property in accordance with General Services Administration (GSA) and Agency policies and procedures. Issues laptop computers and mobile phones to Corps members. In coordination with NCCC's Technical Support Specialist, prepares, e.g., cleans hard drive, upload software, all equipment prior to issuance. Maintains an accountability/inventory system for all technology equipment for both Corps members and staff. Independently or with the assistance of the NCCC Technical Support Specialist, performs minor software and hardware tasks for Corps member issued equipment such as: installing and removing software, setting up local area network and wireless networks, routers and general troubleshooting. Monitors the campus computer lab and enforced IT security and other IT related policies. Resolves, or coordinates the resolution of, issues involving telecommunications. Residence: Inspects campus dormitory(s) for obvious maintenance, safety, or cleanliness issues. May perform light maintenance or repair work such as: changing light bulbs, adding toner to copy machines, moving light furniture, making simple or minor repairs to non-electrical equipment. When Corps members are on campus, participates in monitoring the day-to-day activities to maintain order, discipline, and safety in the residence. Participates in the enforcement of all residence related policies and procedures. Participates or conducts Corps member resident facilities orientation program. Identifies the need for updates or changes to the orientation program. Makes arrangements for periodic fire drills and participates in the coordination of the drill. Coordinates the rotating Team Leader On-Call Duty Roster used to respond to emergencies. Vehicles: Supports the maintenance and management of GSA leased vehicles to include: maintenance, cleanliness, and driver safety training, and accident reporting. Tracks vehicle usage including gas consumption, registration, required maintenance and repairs. Receives, reconciles, and maintains vouchers of repair or maintenance work accomplished. Administrative: Implements standard operating procedures related to vehicle operations, supplies, logistics, equipment utilization, property management, and facilities. Provides general administrative support for the organization to include: ordering supplies, ensuring equipment is in working order, receiving deliveries and mail, and establishing and maintaining subject matter files. Contributes to the development or revision of Corps member training related to support services activities.

Requirements

  • Merit Promotion and internal applicants must submit a SF-50 to verify Status and grade
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-01 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-5 or GS-6 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must include all of the following: 1) Experience maintaining automated tracking systems for inventory management or similar purposes; and 2) Experience reconciling or verifying filling or shipment documents; and 3) Administrative support experience to include activities such as: ordering supplies and equipment; preparing correspondence; working with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps VISTA) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

Education

You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable. If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement as defined by being in the upper third of your graduating class; or possessing a 3.0 GPA or higher over four years of education; or possessing a 3.5 GPA or higher during final 2 years of education. Such education must be from an accredited institution and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. You must submit an unofficial copy of your college transcript. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. educational standards. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
