THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Motor Vehicle Operator, Position Description Number D1907000 and is part of the UNITED STATES PROPERTY AND FISCAL OFFICE National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.

Duties

Transporting supplies and equipment intra and inter State using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installations, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.

Requirements

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Currency on out-state tractor/trailer height/weight requirements an on HAZMAT and OSHA requirements.
• Must have operator maintenance ability for all types of equipment and have a Commercial Driver License.
• Currency on all types of loading equipment (forklifts, cranes, winch systems).
• Must be able to drive long distances, remain overnight at various locations, as necessary, and work during weekends and periods outside of the normal work day.
• Must be able to complete security clearance within 1 year of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: ENLISTED ONLY GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months of experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience operating vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience operating platform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Drivers at this grade may exert moderate to heavy physical effort to hook up service lines, lower landing gears, and in climbing on the tractors to load or tie down cargo. This meets the WG-08 level of this standard for this factor. WORKING CONDITIONS: Drivers at this grade operate vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. This meets the WG-08 level of this standard.
