Navy Child and Youth Programs (CYP) offers high quality early care and youth services in center-based (birth - five), facility-based (age 5-12), and recreational environments (teen; youth sports and fitness). The Teen Coordinator manages the operations of the teen program, plans, schedules, and oversees social, recreational, and educational activities, and collaborates with other organizations, partners, and programs to deliver quality programs. Requirements
- This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 with Child Care check, Tier 3 if applicable, and a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, be free of all communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases.
- Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must successfully obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed.
- Ability to complete required training certificates, and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD's Child and Youth Programs.
- May be required to work an uncommon tour including evening and weekend hours.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license, transport children, and/or attend field trips.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate possesses the following:
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of children and youth from 13 to 18 years of age.
Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques.
Knowledge of a variety of teen programming activities for children and youth.
Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing the detection and prevention of child abuse and/or neglect.
Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
Skill working with military families and an understanding of military lifestyles is preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to lead, supervise, and interact with youth and teens.
Ability to safeguard and account for monies and equipment.
Ability to maintain records and reports.
Ability to supervise others.
Three (3) years of experience where the incumbent displays competency in developmentally appropriate programming (with an MSA or CDA). OR Two (2) years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth (with 2-year degree). OR One (1) year of full-time experience working with children and/or youth (with 4-year or higher degree).
Education
**Must provide a copy of your H.S. Diploma, GED, or College Transcripts (showing degree awarded/conferred) when you apply.**
Bachelor's or higher degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Development, or other field directly related to Pre-K or Primary Education. OR
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Development, or other field directly related to Pre-K or Primary Education. OR
Child Development Associate (CDA) or Military School-Age (MSA) credential or equivalent and a high school diploma.
Note: If your degree has not been awarded and/or you possess certificates of completion for DoD approved competency-based training courses, and/or a valid CDA/MSA credential(s), you MUST also provide a copy of your HS Diploma or equivalent.
