Duties

Serves as the technical expert on applications and information support needs for the Area. Trains personnel on application use, software systems, and data management policies, practices, and procedures. This includes Conservation Desktop. Ensures quality control of data, data standards, databases, data dictionary, applicants and computer models use in compliance with state and NRCS standards and practices Acquires, coordinates, and maintains natural resource and land management data according to the Manual for Managing Geospatial datasets. Manages, develops, coordinates, and integrates GIS and technologies to conduct efficient resource analysis in the respective Area. Analyzes and interprets natural resources information and make recommendations on findings for use by interdisciplinary planning teams and for individual resource professionals.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Specialized Experience for the GS-09 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, remote sensing Technology and aerial imagery, and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and methods to solve problems and design new methods where established methods and procedures are inapplicable or are unavailable. OR Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-09 level: Two full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's, or equivalent graduate degree (LLB, JD, LLM, Ph.D., etc.), from an accredited college or university with a major in human resources, social or behavioral sciences, or in such fields as business or public administration or industrial management, psychology, labor relations, education; OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Combinations of experience and education must total at least 100% as outlined in OPM Qualifications policy. Specialized Experience for the GS-11 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include developing and coordinating GIS technologies for use in resource conservation planning; providing GIS development, support and training to user within the natural resources conservation field. OR Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience for the GS-11 level: Three full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's, or equivalent graduate degree (LLB, JD, LLM, Ph.D., etc.), from an accredited college or university with a major in human resources, social or behavioral sciences, or in such fields as business or public administration or industrial management, psychology, labor relations, education; OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of graduate-level education and experience, as described above, may be used to qualify for this position. This combination must have equipped you with the necessary knowledge and/or experience to successfully perform the duties of this position.
