This SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility and is part of the CA FMS 13 Burbank.

Duties

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR. Selectee may be non-competitively promoted permanently if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. Selectee may be non-competitively extended up to 5 years if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10, is to serve as a working leader of three or more Surface Maintenance Mechanics, WG-5801-10. Performs mechanic duties involving maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Provides technical subordinate guidance and group leadership to employees on the team.

General Experience: Possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series; Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER, WL-5801-10: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have at least 24 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; Ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment; Ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
