You will serve as a Ships Tanks Tester Wage Leader in the Production Resources Department (Code 900) or Structural Shop (Code 920) at the PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will pass on instructions to the work group and get work started by taking the lead in laying out work. You will see to it that needed plans and specifications are available and that needed material/equipment is obtained. You will assign work to subordinates, taking into account established schedules and priority work, capabilities and workload distribution. You will demonstrate proper work steps to subordinates. You will maintain current knowledge and answer questions of other workers on procedures, policies, directives and instructions. You will check work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. You will ensure compliance with fire, safety, good housekeeping and other regulations. You will keep the supervisor informed of progress, operating problems, causes of delays, etc. You will lead a regularly assigned group of approximately 5-12 employees, comprised of about 5-10 ships tanks testers and the balance in lower level ratings (e.g., helper, apprentice, machine tool operators, pneumatic tool operators, etc.).

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to life and/or carry loads/items up to 45 pounds in weight.
  • This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination.
